It gives us immense pleasure to present here the progressive report of Department of English for the academic year 2020-21 for the interest holders. The academic year started in the month of August on 7thwith the admission process for FY / SY and TY BA students under the department of English and enrolled 25 students for First year optional English, 44 students for Second year and 12 students for TYBA. Due to Corona pandemic conditions the teaching was resumed as for directives and guidelines by UGC Government of Maharashtra and University of Mumbai through online mode. The faculties of the department used Zoom online platform, YouTube lectures,WhatsApp communications are used to share the teaching content and notes to the students. Professor ShaileshBagdane created more than hundred video content, YouTube lectures and Professor Sudharma Kale created more than 80 lectures. The faculty in the corona context, called on phone and counseled regarding difficulties on phone and WhatsApp chat the faculty, Shailesh Bagdane has been nominated on syllabus framing committee for paper number 3 Introduction to the Poetry to be introduced in Second Year English for 2022-23, he attended more than 10 online meetings organised by Board of Studies, University of Mumbai. He was further nominated on Post-graduation Syllabus Committee on Teaching and Learning Management. Professor Shailesh Bagdane worked on Vernon God Little by DBC Pierre to write a review to be published by National level publisher in the days to come. Professor Shailesh Bagdane delivered a lecture in a National Level workshop on Metre in Poetry organized by SSR College of Arts Commerce and Science Sayli Silvassa. Professor Shailesh Bagdane attended National level Webinar on How to write a Research Paper on 11 June 2020 organised by Sourashtra College Madurai University, he attended National level workshop on online mode on Designing e-content for English Language and Literature organised by on 29th June 2020, he further attendedTwo Day International web Conference on ‘Literary Studies in Coronavirus Terrain’on 26th and 27th June 2020. On the occasion of bicentenary year of John Keats, Professor ShaileshBagdaneand Prof. Sudharma Kale attended International Conference on 23rd and 25th February 2021, the lectures were delivered by renowned professor Bromwhich and professor Jonathan Culler, the eminent authors of the world. Professor ShaileshBagdanehas been placed in stage 3 under Career Advancement Scheme in the selection cum screening committee meeting organised by University of Mumbai on 12th January 2021. Professor Shailesh Bagdane published the paper Issues of Exile and Diaspora in Zhumpa Lahiris’s literature in Pune Research journal.
The result for TY BA stood hundred percent in the exam, the faculties of the department set the question papers in the form of Google form and conducted online exam for all the classes and subjects. Professor Shailesh Bagdane analysed and written the poetry of Yeats and Sri Aurobindo’ poetry for the doctoral work.

विद्यार्थ्यांच्या सर्वांगीण विकासासाठी व चांगल्या निकालासाठी मराठी विभागातील प्राध्यापक नेहमीच प्रयत्नशील असतात.या वर्षी कोरोनाच्या प्रादुर्भावामुळे सरकारने टाळेबंदी घोषित केल्याने महाविद्यालय नियमित सुरू होऊ शकले नाही. म्हणून विद्यार्थ्यांना ऑनलाइन पद्धतीने शिकविण्याचा मार्ग पत्करावा लागला. त्यासाठी मराठी विभागातील प्राध्यापकांनी यूट्यूब चॅनेल सुरू केले व त्यावर अभ्यासाचे व्हिडिओ बनवून ते अपलोड करायला सुरुवात केली. याला विद्यार्थ्यांचा चांगला प्रतिसाद मिळाला. कारण मुलांना केव्हाही, कुठेही व कितीही वेळेस आम्ही शिकविलेले बघणे, अभ्यास करणे त्यामुळे शक्य झाले. या व्यतिरिक्त झूम, गुगल मिट यांचाही वापर शिकविण्यासाठी केला. तसेच विद्यार्थ्यापर्यंत अभ्याससाहित्य पोहचविण्यासाठी व त्यांच्या संपर्कात राहण्यासाठी व्हाट्सअप, टेलिग्राम, गुगल क्लासरूम यांचा वापर केला.
विद्यार्थ्याच्या सर्वांगीण विकासासाठी विभागाच्या वतीने विविध कार्यक्रम व उपक्रम दरवर्षी राबविले जातात. या वर्षीचे कार्यक्रम व उपक्रम पुढीलप्रमाणे-
- सप्टेंबर २०२०- या महिन्यात तृतीय वर्ष कला या वर्गाच्या विद्यार्थ्यांच्या ऑनलाइन पद्धतीने सराव परीक्षा घेतल्या.
- दि. २७/११/२०२० रोजी तृतीय वर्ष कला या वर्गाच्या विद्यार्थ्यांसाठी चिंचणी महाविद्यालयाच्या प्रा. वनश्री फाळके यांचे अभ्यासपत्रिका क्र. ९ च्या ‘भाषांतर’ या घटकावर ऑनलाइन पद्धतीने व्याख्यान आयोजित करण्यात आले.
- दि. २७ फेब्रुवारी,२०२१ रोजी कुसुमाग्रज यांच्या जयंतीच्या निमित्ताने जागतिक मराठी भाषा दिन साजरा करण्यात आला. याप्रसंगी डॉ. प्रज्ञा कुलकर्णी, डॉ. राहुल पाटील व प्रा. प्रज्ञा कुलकर्णी यांनी विद्यार्थ्यांना मराठी भाषेचे महत्त्व समजावून सांगितले. तसेच विद्यार्थ्यांनी कुसुमाग्रजांच्या कवितांचे वाचन केले.
- या शैक्षणिक वर्षात डॉ. राहुल पाटील व प्रा. जोत्स्ना राव यांनी आदिवासी बोली, लोकसाहित्य यांचे जतन, संवर्धन व प्रचार-प्रसार करण्याच्या हेतूने तृतीय वर्षाच्या विद्यार्थ्यांकडून त्यांच्या बोलीभाषेतील लोकगीते व लोककथा यांचे व्हिडिओ बनवून ते यूट्यूबवर प्रसारित केले. त्यांना महाराष्ट्रभरातून चांगला प्रतिसाद मिळाला. त्यापैकी सुलोचना लाखन या विद्यार्थिनीने लग्नप्रसंगी गायले जाणारे ‘रडू नको आई, सासरी जाते’ या गीताचा बनवलेला व्हिडिओ आतापर्यंत १,७४,००० लोकांनी बघितला आहे.
मराठी विभागातील प्राध्यापकांची या वर्षातील कामगिरी-
डॉ. प्रज्ञा कुलकर्णी
या वर्षातील महत्त्वाची घटना म्हणजे महाविद्यालयामध्ये गेल्या ३५ वर्षांपासून मराठी विषयाचे अध्यापन कार्य करीत असलेल्या व मराठी विभागप्रमुखाची पहिल्या दिवसापासून धुरा सांभाळत असलेल्या डॉ. प्रज्ञा कुलकर्णी या ३१ मे २०२१ रोजी सेवानिवृत्त झाल्या. त्यांनी महाविद्यालयाच्या मराठी विभागाची मुंबई विद्यापीठामध्ये एक ओळख निर्माण केली होती.

- SNDT विद्यापीठाच्या तृतीय वर्ष कला मराठी या वर्गाच्या अभ्यासक्रमावरील ‘समकालीन वाङˎमयीन प्रवाह – ग्रामीण साहित्य’ या विषयावर पुस्तक लिहिले.
- दि. २३ जून २०२० रोजी बी.एन.एन. महाविद्यालय भिवंडी येथील मराठी विभाग व मराठी अभ्यास मंडळ, मुंबई विद्यापीठ यांच्या संयुक्त विद्यमाने ‘साहित्यातील प्रवाह आणि कोरोनानंतरचे जग’ या विषयावर आयोजित एक दिवसीय राष्ट्रीय वेबिनारमध्ये आभासी पद्धतीने सहभाग.
- दि. ०१/१०/२०२० रोजीच्या पत्रानुसार मराठी कवी-लेखक संघटनेच्या पालघर शाखेच्या सचिवपदी नियुक्ती.
- दि. १३/१०/२०२० रोजी ‘आदिवासी समाज, संस्कृती, तत्त्वज्ञान : परिचय’ या विषयावर जव्हार तालुक्यातील प्राथमिक शिक्षक व ‘विचारलढा’ या काव्यसंग्रहाचे कवी श्री. रवी बुधर यांची सविस्तर मुलाखत घेऊन ती यूट्यूब वर प्रसारित केली. त्याला श्रोते, विद्यार्थी व अभ्यासकांचा चांगला प्रतिसाद मिळाला.
- दि. १५/१०/२०२० रोजी कला, वाणिज्य व विज्ञान महाविद्यालय खर्डी, ता. शहापूर यांनी वाचन प्रेरणा दिनाच्या निमित्ताने आयोजित केलेल्या कार्यक्रमात गुगल मिट या ऑनलाइन माध्यमाद्वारे‘वाचन संस्कृती’या विषयावर व्याख्यान दिले.
- दि. १५/१०/२०२० रोजी कला, वाणिज्य व विज्ञान महाविद्यालय वज्रेश्वरी, ता. भिवंडी यांनी वाचन प्रेरणा दिनाच्या निमित्ताने आयोजित केलेल्या कार्यक्रमात गुगल मिट या ऑनलाइन माध्यमाद्वारे ‘ऑनलाइन शिक्षण आणि महितीचा ढिगारा’ या विषयावर व्याख्यान दिले.
- दि. २४/११/२०२० च्या आभार पत्रान्वये मुंबई विद्यापीठाच्या प्रकाशन विभागामार्फत विद्यापीठाचा वार्षिक अहवाल (मराठी) २०१५-१६ तयार करण्यात आला होता. त्या अहवालाच्या १२० पानांचे मुद्रितशोधनाचे काम केले.
- वर्तक महाविद्यालयाचे डॉ. सखाराम डाखोरे यांनी सुरू केलेल्या ‘उलगुलान एक साहित्यिक चळवळ’ या फेसबुक पेजवरील ऑनलाइन मंचावर दि. ०६/१२/२०२० रोजी डॉ. बाबासाहेब आंबेडकर यांच्या स्मृतिदिनानिमित्त ‘आदिवासी समाजाची सद्यस्थिती आणि भवितव्य’ या विषयावर लाईव्ह व्याख्यान दिले. संपूर्ण महाराष्ट्र व भारतभरातील हजारो लोकांनी ते ऐकले. वरील फेसबुक पेजवर तसेच डाखोरे सरांच्या यूट्यूब चॅनेलवर ते उपलब्ध आहे.
- दि. ०८ जानेवारी २०२१ रोजी पाटकर महाविद्यालय, मुंबई यांच्यातर्फे ‘UGC’sCareerAdvancementScheme (CAS) या विषयावर आयोजित राज्यस्तरीय वेबिनारमध्ये सहभाग.
- दि. ०६ व ०७ फेब्रुवारी २०२१ रोजी कला, वाणिज्य व विज्ञान महाविद्यालय, तासगाव तसेच शिवाजी विद्यापीठ मराठी शिक्षक संघ, कोल्हापूर यांच्या संयुक्त विद्यमाने ‘लोकसंस्कृतीची आविष्कार रुपे’या विषयावर आयोजित दोनदिवसीय राष्ट्रीय चर्चासत्रात ‘आदिवासी लोकगीतांमधील स्त्रीदर्शन’ या विषयावर शोधनिबंध सादर केला.
- २७ फेब्रुवारी २०२१ रोजी जागतिक मराठी भाषा दिनानिमित्त मोखाडा महाविद्यालयात आयोजित कार्यक्रमास प्रमुख अतिथी म्हणून उपस्थित राहून ‘मराठी भाषेची दशा व दिशा’या विषयावर मार्गदर्शन केले.
- दि. २५ व २६ मे २०२१ रोजी संपूर्ण महाराष्ट्रातील मराठी विषय घेऊन नेट/सेट, पेट,UPSC, बीए, एम. ए. या व इतर स्पर्धा परीक्षा देणार्या विद्यार्थ्यांसाठी व्हाट्सअप व टेलिग्राम ग्रुप तयार केला. त्यांच्या दर रविवारी GoogleFormच्या साह्याने ऑनलाइन पद्धतीने परीक्षा घेत आहे. महाराष्ट्र, गोवा, कर्नाटक, मध्यप्रदेश व सिल्व्हासा-दादरा नगर हवेली या राज्यातील-केंद्रशासित प्रदेशातील एकूण १००० पेक्षा जास्त विद्यार्थी व प्राध्यापक या उपक्रमाचा लाभ घेत आहेत.
- ‘एकाग्रता कशी वाढवावी?’,‘अभ्यास किती वेळ करावा?’,‘लहान मुलांचा भाषिक विकास कसा साधाल?’, शिक्षणाची उद्दिष्ट्ये व महत्त्व’, जागतिक आदिवासी दिनानिमित्त ‘जागतिक आदिवासी दिन : पार्श्वभूमी, महत्त्व व थोडं चिंतन’,‘जीवनात यशस्वी होण्यासाठी शिबिरे आणि कार्यशाळांचे महत्त्व,‘काय वाचावे?’,‘लहान मुलांच्या भाषेच्या अभ्यासासाठी…’,‘नेट/ सेटच्या अभ्यासासाठी मी वापरलेली काही पुस्तके व माझे काही अनुभव’,‘नवीन, आधुनिक व विधायक समाजनिर्मितीसाठी संशोधनाची गरज’,‘अभ्यास कसा करावा?’ अशा विषयांवर लेखन करून ते com या माझ्या ब्लॉगवर प्रकाशित केले. यापैकी काही लेखांचे व्हिडिओ बनवून ते यूट्यूबवर देखील टाकले. त्यामुळे अनेक विद्यार्थी, शिक्षक, प्राध्यापक व पालक यांना त्याचा लाभ झाला.

- दि. ०८/०६/२०२०रोजी सतीश प्रधान ज्ञानसाधना कला,वाणिज्य आणि विज्ञान महाविद्यालय ठाणे आणि क.जे.सौमैया कला आणि वाणिज्य महाविद्यालय विद्याविहार,मुंबई मराठी विभागाच्या वतीने आयोजित ‘कोरोना आपत्तीचा लिंगभावात्मक अन्वयार्थ’या राज्यस्तरीय वेबिनारमध्ये सहभाग.
- दि. ०९/०६/२०२० रोजी जव्हार महाविद्यालयाच्या वाणिज्य,ग्रामीण विकास व ग्रंथालय विभाग यांच्या वतीने कोविड-१९ च्या पार्श्वभूमीवर ‘वित्तीय व्यवस्थापन सुनियोजित गुंतवणूक योजना,आरोग्य विमा व म्युच्युअल फंड’ या विषयावरील you tube वरील वेबिनारमध्ये सहभाग.
- दि. १०/०६/२०२० रोजी ‘पुस्तक समजून घेऊया’ या उपक्रमामध्ये तर्कतीर्थ लक्ष्मणशास्त्री जोशीलिखित ‘वैदिक संस्कृतीचा विकास’ हे पुस्तक समजून घेतले.
- दि. १८/०६/२०२१ रोजीश्री. ब्रम्हानंद स्वामी शिक्षण प्रसारक मंडळाचे कला व वाणिज्य महाविद्यालय दोडी बुII ता. सिन्नर जि. नाशिक व सावित्रीबाई फुले पुणे विद्यापीठाच्या विद्यार्थी विकास मंडळ आणि मराठी विभाग यांच्या संयुक्त विद्यमाने मराठी भाषा व त्यातील विविध शब्दवैभवाचे समृद्धी, जतन, संवर्धन, प्रचार, प्रसार व विकास होण्यास हातभार लागावा हा उदात्त दृष्टिकोन ठेवून “मराठी भाषा सामान्य ज्ञान व प्रश्नमंजुषा स्पर्धा जून २०२०” आयोजित केली गेली- त्यात सहभाग.
Department Report 2020-21.
Introduction: Zoology department was started in the College from June 2013. Department of Zoology focuses on Research activities by Conducting Student Group projects to every semester of the course. Department uses the digitalized techniques as Projector for theory teaching as well as for practical. Department is having a strong student Progression and Placement history. Teachers continually encouraging students for Higher education and competitive examinations. Faculty members of department continually engaged in study of faunal diversity and Hydrobiology of Jawhar and surrounding area.
Department have a well-equipped laboratory including Spectrophotometer, Cooling centrifuge, Micro centrifuge, Laminar air flow, Incubator, Oven, Electrophoresis, Dessicator, Colorimeters, pH meters, Compound and Dissecting microscopes, water bath, Rotary shaker, Fridge etc. Department having well qualified, experienced and dedicated teaching staff. Teaching staff continually encourages the students for research activities and attaining of Projects and Research Papers.

Activities Conducted by Department:
- Cleaning and sanitization of Zoology laboratory precautionary measures to be taken at college level for reopening of college on 15th 2021 after COVID-19 lockdown.
- During lockdown students were encouraged to strictly adhere to the guidelines of government such as maintaining social distancing, sanitization etc. Students were encouraged to take part in vaccination awareness program.

Report of Cultural Activities during June 2020 to May 2021
- Two Research Proposals are submitted by our science students under guidance of Dr. K.S. Kulkarni and Prof. Sagar T. Kadlag in 15th Inter Collegiate Avishkar Convention 2021 organized by Dept. of Student Development, University of Mumbai.
- Participation in Workshop of “15th Inter Collegiate Avishkar Convention 2021” organized by Dept. of Student Development, University of Mumbai on 24th March 2021 by Dr. K.S. Kulkarni.
- Online/ Virtual Cultural Competitions were organized during 25th to 28th January 2021 due to Covid-19 pandemic. Overall twelve competitions like Warli Painting, Poster making, Elocution, Good Handwriting, Singing, Dancing, Mehandi, Rangoli were conducted and more than 115 students from various faculties participated.
- Students submitted their Videos, Audios, Essays, Posters and Pictures through e-mails. This was a great success of this virtual program in the Tribal area like Jawhar.
- Distribution of washable sanitary napkins to the girl students by the combined efforts of “Living Guard, NGO, Mumbai” and Cultural Department, Jawhar college.

I am pleased to present the Annual report for the academic year,2020-21 of Lifelong Learning and Extension Department. As per Mumbai University Circular dated 19th Sept. 2020, the College started functioning Lifelong learning and Extension Department.
Principal of the college Dr.M.S.Mesharam appointed Dr.Vijay S. Shinde , Dr.V.T.Khataleand Prof. Sandip Vijay Shinde as an Extension Teachers of the College under Lifelong learning and Extension department. The students who were not enrolled in NSS are enrolled under Lifelong learning and Extension Department. The students who complete Projects, activities under Lifelong learning and Extension Department will be benefited by 10 grace marks by University of Mumbai.

From 20thSept. to 05th Oct. 2020, interested student are enrolled. Total 113 students are enrolled 11 students from TYBA, 05 Students from SYBA, 14 Students from FYBA and 07 Students from TYBCOM, 07 Students from SYBCOM, 03 Students from FYBCOM and19 Students TYBSC and 14 Students from SYBSC,33 Students from FYBSC are enrolled out of 113.50 students are male and 63 students are female. On 2nd Feb.2020, the student Enrollment and Registration form was submitted to Lifelong learning and Extension Department, University of Mumbai.
On 9thNov. 2020, Mumbai University Lifelong learning and Extension Department organized First Term Training Program. Dr.V.T.Khataleand Prof. Sandip Shinde participated in the training at K. J. Somaiya College of Science and Commerce, Vidyavihar (East), Mumbai -400 077.
During 2020-21, Dr. Vijay Shankar Shinde was appointed as a Field CoordinatorDLLE, by University of Mumbai. On 3rd Feb. 2020, First Term Training Program was organized for students; Dr.Vijay S. Shinde, Prof. V.T.Khatale and Prof. Sandip Shinde were present. Essay and Poster Competition was organized22th March 2021 to 26th March 2021.
Under Lifelong learning and Extension Department, Population Education Club has been selected and distributed among 07 students groups. These groups were given AIDS, Female feticides, Women empowerment, Population Education, Child labors projects were given. In college level program and community level the students participated in Street play, Essay Competition, Elocution, Exhibition, Folklore, Poster competition, Seminar, groupdiscussion.
