About Department:

Department of Botany was established in June 2013 with the beginning of science stream on 100% Grant in Aid basis under Mumbai University. The department is dedicated to provide the high quality education. The faculty of the department is well qualified, experienced and striving for excellence. The department offers excellent infrastructure, well developed botanical garden and fully functional laboratories having maximum number of instruments. The department has the history of excellent results of the students in all the three years of the course.
Palghar district is a mainly tribal district and the lifestyle of the peoples in this area is related with the nature. So the education in Botany provides the students a deep knowledge of nature and plants. By keeping this in mind, the Arts, Commerce and Science College, Jawhar has started the education for the students’ up to the T.Y.B.Sc with Botany as a special subject from the academic year 2015-16.

The department offers a undergraduate programme of B. Sc of 3 years duration. The programme provides basic knowledge of the plant world, plant diversity, evolutionary trends of flowering and Non- flowering plants, genetics, plant physiology, ecology, evolution, biotechnology during these three years.

Eligibility

An applicant who has passed the H.S.C. (12th Science with Biology) Examination of the Maharashtra State Board or equivalent of any other statutory Board or University is eligible for admission to the first year B.Sc. degree course.
