Gokhale Education Society's Arts & Commerce College is situated 125 km North - East of Mumbai in a tribal region of Thane District of Maharashtra. The college is affiliated to University of Mumbai and was established in the year 1983. His Highness Shrimant Raje Yashwantrao Mukane Maharaj of Jawhar State donated land for the college building which is surrounded by dense vegetation. The college was inaugurated at the auspicious hands of Dr. G. B. Sardar, well-known educationist and owes a great deal to the inspiration provided by Shri. H. G. Alias Bhausaheb Vartak the then Chairman of the Society who played a great role in revolutionizing the life of Adivasis of Thane District.
