About Department:

Department of Botany was established in June 2013 with the beginning of the science stream on a 100% Grant-in-aid basis under Mumbai University. The department is dedicated to providing high-quality education. The faculty of the department is well qualified, experienced, and striving for excellence. The department offers excellent infrastructure, well well-developed botanical garden, and fully functional laboratories having the maximum number of instruments. The department has a history of excellent results for the students in all three years of the course.

Palghar district is a mainly tribal district and the lifestyle of the people in this area is related to nature. So education in Botany provides students with a deep knowledge of nature and plants. By keeping this in mind, the Arts, Commerce and Science College, Jawhar have started the education for the students up to the T.Y.B.Sc with Botany as a special subject from the academic year 2015-16.

The department offers an undergraduate program of B. Sc. of 3 years duration. The program provides basic knowledge of the plant world, plant diversity, evolutionary trends of flowering and Non-flowering plants, genetics, plant physiology, ecology, evolution, and biotechnology during these three years.

To provide the knowledge about utilization of natural resources.
To understand the knowledge of botany and use it for the conservation of biodiversity.
To impart in-depth knowledge in the field of botany to build scientific curiosity, and research aptitude and make ready the students to face competitive exams and take up further studies.
To provide quality education in the subject of Botany for tribal students
